The problem with a lot of 'initiatives' is that they're just that 'initiatives' -- separate from the real work that goes on. This is a must-fail scenario. Facilitating collaboration at the 'point of work' is the goal. Getting there is wholly dependent on a whole lot of things that have to be assessed. It's not rocket science, but it also can't be self-help medicine. When you're really sick you eventually go to the doctor to evaluate the situation. Sadly, in this case it's a lot harder to find competent help. Collaboration isn’t an ‘event’ or a ’solution’ — it’s an attribute of work.
